RENTAL. MOST LIKELY GOING TO TAX FREE KHL NEXT YEAR. THESE ARE THE TRADES THAT SET FRANCHISES BACK IN THE LONG RUN. I AM WARY OF RUSSIANS.

NJ LEFT WINGS PARISE & KOVALCHUK!

Oduya has a bad contract, Bergfors is a good player but the one thing the Devils have a lot of are wings, Cormier is the idiot who is suspended for the year for taking someones head off in junior and the first round pick will hopefully be at the end of the 1st round so i don’t think it’s going to set NJD back to much. Brodeur has maybe 3 good years left so they need to go for a cup while the window is still open.

…and yes, even Devils fans know this is just a rental.

The flyers had a plethora of picks/ prospects a few years ago too. It dries up quickly with trades like this. I just hate rental trades because it is a zero sum transaction. You win it all or you lost big. Tough situation in a capped league were success is a product of asset management & drafting more than anything else.

And to all those flyers fans who thought the flyers should get Kovalchuk it literally couldn’t happen. Holmgren has F***ed the cap situation up so much and stripped the farm system to such a degree that we not only have nothing to offer, but we have almost $0 cap room to boot. What a huge difference from just a few years ago……….At least it appears that he will under no conditions trade Carter, JVR, or Giroux. Thats a positive sign.
