Malkin Makes Impact

Malkin injured in preseason debut

A worst-case scenario unfolded before the horrified eyes of Penguins personnel at the Moncton Coliseum on Wednesday when prized Russian rookie Evgeni Malkin was injured in the second period of his preseason debut.
Penguins general manager Ray Shero said Malkin suffered an “upper body injury” during a collision with teammate John LeClair. Although he was taken to a hospital, Malkin rejoined the Penguins in time for the conclusion of their 5-4 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.
