Sens deal Havlat and Smolinski to Chicago
The Ottawa Senators have traded Martin Havlat and Bryan Smolinski to the Chicago Blackhawks in a three way deal also involving the San Jose Sharks. Chicago sent Mark Bell to San Jose in exchange for Tom Preissing and Josh Hennessy, who the Blackhawks added to a package to land Havlat and Smolinski. Havlat also signed a three-year deal with the Blackhawks worth $18 million US.
Spector Analyzes Havlat Move
This is a great deal in the short term for the Sharks and Blackhawks, while it remains to be seen if this move will pan out down the road for the Senators.
Brendan Shanahan became the second big-time forward to say goodbye to the Detroit Red Wings this offseason, agreeing to a one-year deal worth $4 million with the New York Rangers on Sunday.
By now the players should have learned. You don’t mess with the Senators or they will banish you to a shitty hockey team. First they sent Yashin to The Island, then Hossa to Atlanta and now Havlat to Chicago. I love how they do business.
BTW, don’t mess with Bernie either or he will send you to Murphy’s.
But Murphy’s wins. Chaos South, now that’s exile.
