Kevin, What is Lou going to do? Who Goes? I don’t think that he should have re-signed Langenbrunner (I wish the Flyers had had a chance at him). They need to trim a lot of payroll by September plus sign Gianta, Hale, and a backup goalie correct?

My guess is that Lou still thinks he can find a trade or loophole so that he doesn’t have to pay all of Mogilny and Malakov’s contracts. I’m pretty sure that he already has gentlemens agreements with Hale, Martin and Gionta and is just holding off on making it official until money is freed up.
You will probably see longtime Devil Sergei Brylin given away to basically anyone who will take him (1.5 million). Matvichuk, Lukowich, Marshall and Wiemer all fit in this category as well.
My first choice to go would be Madden and his 2.9 salary. I know he’s one of the best at what he does but I hate spending that kind of money on the 3rd line. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Gomez is the one being shopped. Despite being under the gun (salary cap), the Devils can still get a real good return for him.
FYI, I love the Langenbrunner signing. Once the playoffs start, it’s like having another 6 million dollar scorer in the line-up.
