Richards and Carter look for more success with Team Canada at worlds

Success has been like a shadow for Mike Richards.
Just 21, Richards has already won a Memorial Cup with the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers, Calder Cup with the AHL’s Philadelphia Phantoms and gold medal while serving as captain of the 2005 world junior team.
His latest challenge is this year’s IIHF world hockey championship, where he’s been named an alternate captain with Team Canada and will be relied on to help get another team to the top.

Canadiens captain Saku Koivu undergoes successful eye surgery

Montreal Canadiens captain Saku Koivu is recovering after undergoing successful eye surgery over the weekend.
In a brief statement Monday, the team said doctors repaired a tear in the retina of Koivu’s left eye. The surgery was performed by team ophthalmologist John Little and retina specialist Mila Oh at Montreal’s Royal Victoria Hospital. Koivu’s recovery is expected to last several weeks.
