In the not too distant past only the captain of the Stanley Cup winner skated around the ice with the Cup. Wayne Gretzky changed all of that though. Who did he hand the cup to first? And why?
To view the answer drag your mouse cursor across the white space below:
Steve Smith. He handed the cup to Smith to show all was forgiven for Steve’s gaffe the year before where he banked the eventual game-winning goal of Grant Fuhr’s skate.

I think the answer to this is in the oln show “lord stanley’s cup” or something. I just can’t remember it right now …
Steve Smith, the moron put the puck into his own net vs. the Flames the previous year.
Bumba got it. Steve Smith was a hero in Calgary.
He sure was a hero in Calgary. I loved how every time he’d get the puck in his own zone in Calgary all the fans would yell “shoot.” That’s WSL quality stuff.
