The Ducks should play their hole card tonight by using Jean-Sebastien Giguere in Game 4, and Randy Carlyle is at least thinking about it.
Giguere still remembers how to play goal. He just doesn’t know what he’s supposed to do with this bugle and saddle.
“I’ve never had to do this before,” Giguere said Wednesday, as it became likely that he’ll mount the horse tonight and ride down the hill to save a bunch of stranded Mighty Ducks.
The flu is giving the Edmonton Oilers a lot more trouble than the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the Western Conference finals.
So far, the bug has run through the Edmonton dressing room and even forced lineup changes. The Mighty Ducks have not put up much resistance and are just one loss away from elimination.
To extend the Western Conference finals beyond a fleeting four games, to leave town tonight with hope and a place to be Saturday, the Mighty Ducks must win a game in a series in which they haven’t led for a single second of 180 minutes.
