Sunday’s Playoff Wrap

Abel to Yzerman wraps up the Wings loss

Alright. We have ourselves a series, and no, that’s not a surprise. The question has dramatically shifted from how do we skate with this team, how do we sustain an energy level to match theirs to, how the hell do the Wings beat this trap?

Ducks edge Flames to tie series

It wasn’t a stellar return for goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere on Sunday night, but his Anaheim Mighty Ducks built a big enough lead to defeat the Calgary Flames at Pengrowth Saddledome.
The Ducks scored the first three goals of the game and then held on to beat the Flames 4-3 to even their Western Conference best-of-seven series 1-1.

St. Louis’ goals help Tampa even series

Martin St. Louis spent much of the regular season searching for the form that made him the MVP in 2003-04.
With Tampa Bay trying to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole to start the playoffs, St. Louis found his scoring touch.
The 5-foot-9 forward’s second goal of the game put the Lightning ahead to stay in a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night, evening the Eastern Conference series at 1-1.

Penalties create big gaps in defense for Predators

Jonathan Cheechoo and Paul Kariya switched roles yesterday.
Cheechoo energized San Jose’s power play one game after Kariya did the same thing for Nashville.
Cheechoo scored the Sharks’ first power-play goal and had assists on the last two in San Jose’s 3-0 victory.
