Not using his head: Bolt suspended for helmet hit
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Evgeny Artyukhin was suspended for two games Tuesday after hitting Antoine Vermette with the Ottawa forward’s own helmet.
The play occurred during the second period of Sunday’s 4-0 loss to the Senators. Artyukhin was given a match penalty after taking Vermette’s helmet off his head and striking him over the head with it during a scuffle.
Hall of Famer Geoffrion has stomach cancer
Bernard Geoffrion plans to be in Montreal on Saturday for the retirement of the No. 5 sweater he wore with Hall of Fame distinction for 14 seasons with the Canadiens – even though doctors have told him he’s suffering from stomach cancer.
The dreaded disease was discovered during a recent surgical procedure in Atlanta.
