Stars acquire Niinimaa from Islanders

The Dallas Stars have added experience to the mix in veteran defenceman Janne Niinimaa. The Stars acquired the 30-year-old, along with a fifth round draft pick in the 2007 Entry Draft, from the New York Islanders for defenceman John Erskine and a second round draft pick in 2006. By making the trade, the Islanders free up close to $2 million in cap space.

Fleury confronts fans, ejected in England

Former NHL star Theo Fleury was ejected from a British Elite Ice Hockey League game Sunday night following an altercation with Coventry fans.

Comcast SportsNet plans to air three out-of-market hockey games through the rest of the season, beginning this weekend. SportsNet will join the Washington at Anaheim game, in progress, at 11:30 p.m. on Friday. It also plans to air Chicago at San Jose at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, and Washington at Montreal at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30.

But the real question is why? Why do we get extra chances to see Chicago, Washington and Anaheim?
