Report: Bondra, Thrashers close to contract

Peter Bondra and the Atlanta Thrashers are close to a new contract.
The free agent is on his way to Atlanta, where he’ll likely complete a one-year deal in the next two days, his agent, Ritch Winter, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Saskin, Linden asked to step down

The Toronto Star reports that a group of NHL veterans are calling for the resignation of NHLPA executive director Ted Saskin and union president Trevor Linden. According to the Star, Detroit Red Wings defenceman Chris Chelios, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Tie Domi and Minnesota Wild goaltender Dwayne Roloson are among the players demanding a change in leadership.
