Crosby hype more than justified
‘The Kid,’ as he has come to be known, finally played his first few periods of competitive hockey in front of a Pittsburgh audience, and I am here to tell you that life will never be the same.
Yeah, it was only a training-camp scrimmage. That’s beside the point. If you’d seen the expressions on the faces of men who have been playing and/or watching hockey all their lives, you’d understand that Crosby is something different.

Last month, the Columbus Blue Jackets ensured their fans budding star Rick Nash would be with the club for at least the next five seasons. However, the 21-year-old may not be available come opening night in Washington.
Bill Clement has found a new home. The former Flyer who served as a color analyst both locally and, most recently, for ESPN is expected to be named today as a studio host for NHL telecasts on OLN, a cable network owned by Comcast. Also in the running for the studio jobs are Mike Richter, Neil Smith and Pierre McGuire.
