Andreychuk decides to return

The Tampa Bay Lightning retained another important player from their Stanley Cup championship team Thursday, signing unrestricted free agent Dave Andreychuk to a two-year contract.

Luongo to get $3.2 million

An arbitrator granted Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo a one-year, $3.2 million contract yesterday. Luongo, who has expressed frustration over being taken to arbitration, had rejected a five-year, $25 million deal before the hearing with arbitrator Vernon Gill.

Hurricanes name Brind’Amour captain

Veteran centre Rod Brind’Amour was given the coveted “C” for his sweater Thursday, becoming the fourth player to serve in that capacity since the franchise moved to North Carolina in 1997. He follows Kevin Dineen, Keith Primeau and Ron Francis.

Thrashers in search of backup goalie for Lehtonen

The Atlanta Thrashers are looking for another goalie to back up prized prospect Kari Lehtonen, fearing Pasi Nurminen’s career is over because of a serious knee injury.

    Good, I think they need another sports radio station in Philly because 610 doesn’t devote enough air time to the T.O. situation.
