Morning Update

Czechs, Russians refuse to sign player transfer agreement

We really don’t know about the ramifications of those two countries saying no to the proposed deal,’ International Ice Hockey Federation spokesman Szymon Szemberg told The Associated Press.

Arthur Etchells quoted on Spector’s Hockey Trade Rumors page
Regarding the rumor Roenick could return to Philadelphia around the trade deadline:

“I don’t think this could happen because about ten years ago the NHL enacted the Bob Clarke rule stating you could not reacquire a player within a year of dealing him. Clarke would trade players for future considerations to squads with room to spare on their rosters so he could hide them there during the waiver draft, and then he’d trade back for them, giving the other teams some cash. The NHL closed the loophole by stating you could not reacquire the same player within a year of deailing him.”
